Review Policy/Review Requests

WHAT I DO DO AND DON'T DO

***Please read the following before sending a review request***

heehee, I said do do...and since you're reading this, so did you!

So this is the boring part where I must inform you of what do. I know, I know. You're probably thinking this is a book review blog, that seems to be pretty self explanatory, so what the heck could this crazy lady possibly have left to explain. Blah blah blah.

Sheesh, I know right. How annoying am I for making you read all of this. But, I promise the following words will contain vital information. Seriously, I pinky swear...just keep reading...please...

As of June 2013:
  • I will consider ALL ARCs/Review Copies/Finished Copies for review, of traditionally published YA, MG, and Picture books (from the publisher, publicists, authors, etc). I strive to review every ARC and book sent, but if I cannot I will pass it along to another reader or reviewer. I will try to review ARCs at least one week before the release date. If you have a traditionally published book you'd like me to review please email me a review request. My Contact Info can be found here).
  • Indie/Self Published Authors: I am NOT taking review requests at this time, UNLESS a) I've reviewed your work previously (i.e you're releasing a sequel or new book) or b) we've previously discussed me reviewing your work...if you fall into one of these categories then please feel free to send me a request.
  • Even though I am not currently taking indie review requests, I am more than happy to have you on my blog as a guest with an interview or guest post and/or giveaway or do a book spotlight for your book. Just send me an email and we can set something up!
    • For book spotlights, I do require an author provided giveaway to go along. This could be as simple as an ebook(s) giveaway.
    • For interviews and guest posts, I do not require an author provided giveaway, but I do highly encourage it. Posts with giveaways tend to garner more attention, thus giving authors and their books more attention. Plus, giveaway winners usually take the time to post reviews of the books won.
**As of June 2013, I am open to scheduling  blog tours, guest posts, interviews, spotlights, giveaways, etc through the month of August. I have several open dates in July and August. I am NOT scheduling anything past August.

Please note, that just because I accept your review request does NOT guarantee a review.

WHAT I DO DO

-I read books and offer my honest, unbiased reviews and opinions:
  • I will review YA, MG, and Picture Books only
  • Genres I do NOT read and review- non-fiction, Christian Fiction, erotica. I will consider all other genres within YA and MG
  • I will post my review on my blog and Goodreads regardless of my rating (DNF-5 Stars)
  • I do not rate Picture Books, I simply review them. I find it hard to rate these smaller books and usually if I review one it's because I enjoyed it.

-I accept books to read from authors, publicists, publishers, ect. in the forms of ARC's, Review Copies or already published finished copies. I prefer physical books when available, but will accept ebooks in Kindle/mobi format.

-My timeframe:
  • ARCs sent and requested- I will try to post my review 1-6 weeks before the release date, but this is not always guaranteed
  • Finished copies of already published books- I will try post my review within 3 months, unless I specify otherwise
  • Reviews Requested by Self-Pubs- I will post reviews in the order I receive the requests and when time allows.
-I'm always happy to host interviews, guest posts, blog tours, and giveaways. Just ask!

-I sometimes accept review requests/beta reads for unpublished, but completed manuscripts. These beta reads will be given very rarely, but feel free to ask.

-I sometimes run contests or giveaways or may offer goodies to my followers.

-I brush my teeth at least twice a day and always have fresh undies on...but you didn't really need to know that.

WHAT I DON'T DO

-I do not bash books, authors, or fans.

-I do not accept money, bribes, favors, or even hugs for a guaranteed positive review.

-I do not guarantee a review at all. I will strive to read and review every ARC and published book I am sent. I will read ALL review proposals though, but I cannot guarantee that I will review your work.

-I do not claim to be associated with ANY publishers, editors, authors, fairies, wizards, or Book Gods.

-I do not suck blood, transform into a hairy beast at the full moon, sprout a tale when I get wet, or comprehend the quadratic formula...you really did need to know those things.

What My Reviews Consist Of
  • Info about the book: title, series, author, pub, pub date, format, source
  • Official blurb or synopsis from Goodreads and cover pic (from Goodreads)
  • My review: I will begin my review with three words that I believe best describe the book, then my review (usually broken into 5 parts: my brief summary, story, characters, romance/relationships, my final thoughts)
  • My rating
  • An about the author section (please try to provide me with a brief author bio and pic or point me in the direction of one)

Now see, that wasn't so bad was it, and the promised important information was all there, and I don't think I was too boring, and...oh who am I kidding? If you made it this far then you deserve a treat...I have no treats to give, so you're gonna have to find your own. But enjoy that treat with the joy and knowledge of knowing that I fully believe you deserve it.

If you wish for me to review any book please send an email to me, Aeicha, at wordspelunker@gmail.com with the book title, synopsis, format, and any necessary information. If you need to mail me a hard copy I will provide you with my address details. I would also love to feature interviews with any author whose book I review or feature giveaways. In your initial email, please indicate whether or not an interview and/or a giveaway is possible.
